Dear Dancers, Supporters, and Friends,
It is with a heavy heart that I share with you the news of my resignation as Executive Director of IndepenDANCE. I made this decision in an effort to allow myself some time to focus on my family and other endeavors, as well as to alleviate some stress in my life. While I know this is the right decision for me, I struggle knowing that something I have been so passionate about is no longer going to be a regular part of my routine.
I have been blessed to be a part of this organization since the very first show in 2009. Since that time, I have made countless friends and so many memories that I will forever look back on fondly. I have seen many dancers and choreographers come and go, and worked with absolutely amazing people in creating the organization that you know and love today. I will never forget the friends, the pieces, and the community I have found in 16 years of work for this group. I know IndepenDANCE has touched hundreds of people and brought a wonderful outlet to adults in our community, and I am honored to have been at the helm of such a passionate and enjoyable group of people.
Effective January 1, 2025, I am no longer in a leadership role; however, I am looking forward to dancing and choreographing as I am able. The show will go on, and I plan to remain a part of the performance in that capacity. There are many capable hands on the Board and Show Committee and those folks’ passion will take this group to new places and keep us enjoying the dance opportunities you have come to expect with IndepenDANCE.
Thank you all for your support over these years. They’ve gone by quicker than I would have imagined, and you are all so special to me for giving me the opportunity to lead this group. While not always easy, it’s always been rewarding to see your smiling faces and hear your kind words of thankfulness.
Keep dancing and I’ll see you on stage.
With love and gratitude,
Stevie
